29 Jan Kitchen design trends for 2026: The trends our clients are already choosing
As we settle into 2026, our Instagram, TikTok and Pinterest feeds are full of inspiration and trends. Is your head full of home renovation plans and wishlists? Trying to work out what design style and elements will serve you now and in many years’ time?
Our advice is that designing your new bespoke kitchen isn’t about fashion. Instead, it’s about investing in thoughtful design, quality materials and creating spaces that genuinely improve day‑to‑day life.
So, rather than making 2026 trend predictions, we’ve reflected on the kitchens we’ve created, the design decisions our homeowners have made, and the themes that have emerged organically.
1. Warm, layered neutrals
While mid and dark grey kitchens once dominated, there’s been a shift towards warmer, more nuanced palettes. Soft whites, putty tones, gentle greiges and muted earthy colours, all of which create kitchens that feel calm, welcoming and timeless.
Revisit this lovely family kitchen in East Grinstead with us. This beautiful in-frame kitchen is in a two-tone colour scheme. The island is painted in Sea Harr, and the main run of furniture is in Murkle Sand. These complementary tonal colours have a timeless quality to them and work beautifully with the copper fixtures and fittings. The worktops are Corian in Carrara Crema, which has lovely soft beige tones and veining.
The result is a kitchen that feels light and elegant, yet far from stark. The colour palette is inviting, calm and timeless.

2. Design driven by real life, not showroom layouts
What has become increasingly important to clients since the Covid-19 and lockdown era is a multifunctional kitchen that can be utilised for cooking, entertaining, working from home, and family life, all of which are shaping kitchen design more than ever.
How you use your kitchen and your lifestyle needs are the critical pieces in the design phase. Falling in love with a concept online, in a magazine, or in a showroom is great for inspiration, but it is not always the right fit for your home and needs. We’re not worried about making a kitchen look fabulous! We need to ensure it’s practical. It has to be designed for real life.
We love looking back at this kitchen in West Hoathly. The clients are a retired couple who are keen to future-proof their new kitchen with a contemporary, modern style, new appliances, a user-friendly design, and ample storage. In addition, they wanted the kitchen to be easy to manage and keep clean.
We created this stylish, contemporary, practical kitchen, which is working very hard behind the scenes! For example, the tall units in green are a larder with pull-out drawers and a fridge, making unpacking the shopping as easy as possible. To maximise the storage elsewhere, all the drawers have hidden internal drawers; no space left unutilised or out of reach.
The worktops and sink are Corian in Designer White. Corian is a fantastic product for low-maintenance, durable kitchen surfaces. It is a non-porous, seamless product which prevents dirt and stains from penetrating the surface. Additionally, with no seams, there are very few crevices for dirt and bacteria to build up. It has a similar, softly reflective surface to stone, making it ideal for kitchens where you want to optimise the light.

3. Statement islands with purpose
Kitchen islands remain central to customer wishlists, but we’re making them work hard for their place in the final design. It’s not just about adding extra worktop spaces or a breakfast bar. These islands are truly multi-functional.
In one of our recent bespoke kitchens, a generously proportioned island combines seating, open and closed storage and preparation space, finished in a contrasting colour to the main cabinetry.
For 2026, we expect islands to continue to become more architectural, with thoughtful proportions, mixed materials, and clear functionality.

4. Sustainability through longevity and craftsmanship
Our clients and we are continually looking for ways to be more sustainable and are leaning into quality and craftsmanship to deliver a kitchen that will meet the demands of home life for a long time to come.
Making considered choices on durable finishes and ethical and environmentally conscious manufacturers is the right design outlook to take into 2026.
If sustainable design is important to you, investing in the right materials, craftspeople, and brands.
This kitchen in Reigate is designed with two of our favourite kitchen brands, Rotpunkt and Laminam, delivering on style, sustainable practices, and durability.

Looking ahead to 2026
Kitchen design in 2026 and every year is about considering choices that reflect your lifestyle, will look great in years to come, and marry practicality with beautiful design and quality craftsmanship.
