KITCHENS

Classic or contemporary kitchen design?

CHOOSING THE PERFECT KITCHEN FOR YOUR HOME

Where to begin when choosing a new kitchen

The choice of kitchen types is vast, and in addition, there are endless options for colour and finish. However, it needn’t feel overwhelming! To begin choosing your perfect kitchen, firstly decide if you want a classic or contemporary kitchen design. We have defined each style below.

Secondly, think about your practical needs for the kitchen. What type of kitchen do you need?

Is it a kitchen for entertaining?
A kitchen for a busy family and pets?
Is it a kitchen for a real foodie?
A kitchen for a big light space or is there a lack of natural light?
Is it a kitchen for a modern home or for a period property?

Thirdly, give some thought to your must-haves. For example, does it need to be accessible for a wheelchair or pram? Is a kitchen island top of your wishlist? Do you need a separate utility area? Lastly, don’t worry if you don’t know the answers yet! We’ll go through all of this and more in our free kitchen design consultation.

CONTEMPORARY KITCHEN DESIGN

Contemporary kitchen design tends to be typified by a minimalist style. Think simple but beautiful design features with a streamlined finish.

Whether you’re after high gloss, matt, handleless, stone finishes or wood veneers, we work with the highest quality German and British products. The quality of the craftsmanship will elevate any space, creating an uncluttered, modern kitchen.

Our modern styles of kitchen are the epitome of contemporary cool. Sleek, minimalist designs, beautifully engineered as you’d expect, robust and stylish. As a result, they are right at home with cutting edge appliances like Miele, Wolf and Sub Zero.

Similarly, contemporary kitchens have a knack of making every element a design feature in itself. From cooker hobs, taps and handles, a contemporary kitchen loves attention to the tiniest detail.

Cool, crisp colours are an obvious choice for a contemporary kitchen. However, don’t be afraid to choose a vibrant colour for a statement feature. We particularly love a coloured glass splashback to create a great contrast and injection of personality.

Due to the simplicity and clean lines synonymous with contemporary kitchen design, they are a very scalable concept. From tiny galley kitchens to expansive and spacious ones, a contemporary kitchen brings a sense of luxury and style to every space.

Finally, to really achieve a really minimalist look, ask about our handleless options. The ultimate seamless design concept for your kitchen.

CLASSIC KITCHEN DESIGN

When we think of classic, we think of timeless. Designs and features that have evolved over time, but remain relevant and stylish.

Shaker kitchens are one of the most popular styles of classic kitchen design. As at home in a new build or a farmhouse, shaker kitchens adapt themselves to the surroundings. The use of painted wood adds real warmth and texture to a space. As a result, using painted wood means you can have your kitchen any colour you choose! Enabling you to really reflect your personal style in your new kitchen.

Classic kitchens are always an elegant solution. They really lend themselves to family life, complementing period homes or adding wonderful character to new homes.

Classic design is by nature, a type of design that has evolved over time. Resulting in a style of design that has embraced many different influences and is a very flexible concept to work with.

Consequently, this gives you a lot of freedom in bringing an eclectic and homely style to your kitchen. Mix in vintage accessories, contrasting colour schemes, soft furnishings and free standing units. You don’t even need to worry about the well-worn pet bed in the corner, in a classic style kitchen, somehow it all works!

Above all, a classic kitchen really is an investment in timeless design. Therefore, your new kitchen will look great in your home for many years to come.
