About This Project

The Brief

Our customers are a retired couple who wanted to modernise their kitchen with new appliances, a user-friendly design, and incorporate lots of storage. In addition, they wanted the kitchen to be easy to manage and keep clean. The kitchen has the most amazing rural views, and it was important that the kitchen remained focused towards the view, and was light and bright to work in.

We had actually done some work for the couple 10 years previously. They came to us this time, having received a design from elsewhere, but were unsure about it. We identified a few things that wouldn’t work, so we made recommendations and redesigned it. It’s always so lovely when people remember us and return!

Our bespoke kitchen design

This kitchen is a contemporary, true handleless kitchen in Porcelain and Regents Green with handleless rails in aluminium. Our customer really wanted a two-tone scheme using green to resonate with the lovely views from their window, which overlooks the garden and beyond. Regents Green is a lovely shade of green, not too soft like a pastel tone and not too vibrant, like a racing green. It has a lovely organic quality to it, and looks great in this kitchen.

The worktops and sink are Corian in Designer White. Corian is a fantastic product for low-maintenance, durable kitchen surfaces. It is a non-porous and seamless product, and these qualities prevent dirt and stains from penetrating the surface. Additionally, with no seams, there are very few crevices for dirt and bacteria to build up. It has a similar, softly reflective surface to stone, making it ideal for kitchens where you want to optimise the light.

The tall units in green are a larder and fridge to make unpacking the shopping as easy as possible.

To maximise the storage in this kitchen, all the drawers have hidden internal drawers.

Neff and Miele appliances were chosen, and of course, a Quooker tap. No need for heavy kettles or worktop clutter in this super-efficient contemporary kitchen.

All in the detail

Typically, when designing a two-tone colour scheme, you would put the darker colour on the lower units and the lighter colour on the upper units to help a kitchen feel light and bright, regardless of the colour scheme.

However, for this kitchen, with such a large window and the Corian worktops reflecting lots of natural light, we felt the design could really lean into the Regents Green without feeling dark or smaller. The green up top also has a lovely resonance with the green tree tops visible from the window. We gave a lot of thought to where the colour divide should be, and we’re so thrilled with how it looks.

In addition to the kitchen, we also transformed the utility room and designed custom racks for clothes airers and BBQ equipment.
