14 Dec Tips for hosting this Christmas
Whether you’re hosting a bubble of three households this year or just immediate family, Christmas always puts pressure on your hosting skills. We were delighted to be featured in this month’s Kitchens, Bedrooms & Bathrooms‘ magazine feature, ‘8 Must-haves for a Party Perfect Kitchen’. Our founder and designer, Rachael Workman contributed tips and advice to help get kitchens set up for hosting, even if it’s just for intimate gatherings this year.
Rachael’s top tips
‘Undoubtedly the festive season is going to feel different this year. I think the focus is going to come back to smaller, more intimate styles of hosting for Christmas and New Year. Rather than big drinks parties with platters of canapes and friends milling around, we’ll be hosting small dinner parties for close family and friends.
This is going to make hosting feel more formal but we all know that the real party at any get together happens in the kitchen! So, space allowing, move the party to the kitchen rather than the dining room. This means you won’t miss any of the fun whilst prepping food and drinks.
Double up
If you love to host, dual ovens at waist height with one being a combi are a must to incorporate in your design. This means if you are hosting a more formal dinner service, you have plenty of oven space, and will save your back from constant bending and stretching with heavy pans.
Wine time
Wine fridges are worth their weight in gold over the festive season, and the wine cooler gadget we really love is the Kaelo. It’s a single bottle cooler integrated into your worktop or island making it ideal for quick top ups and displaying your festive bubbles.’
