Sweet dreams are made of this

You may already know that we design bespoke bedrooms but did you know that we’re launching a brand new range? We are working with a UK manufacturer to create beautiful bespoke bedroom furniture, in classic and contemporary styles. We believe that your bedroom should be an oasis. An escape and a retreat from the day to day stresses and strains of work and family life. Why is this important? Because you need to recharge, and then do do it all again tomorrow! Your bedroom should be an environment which enables you to relax and sleep.

How do you make your bedroom a sleep haven?

You need to create an environment where you can relax to recharge, but also feel inspired. Here’s our top four tips in creating just the right ambience in your bedroom.

  1. Declutter

Have you got enough storage? Think about what items you want on display and the rest can be safely stowed away, and in style! You can have everything still within reach and right where you need it, but neatly behind closed doors, or tucked in a purpose built drawer.

  1. Using colour

This is really about what colours you respond to personally. Calming greys, blues and greens are often used in the bedroom to create a tranquil setting. But maybe you need an injection of colour to start your day the right way! Don’t be frightened of colour in the bedroom and you’re not limited to wall colour either. Our furniture can be painted in any colour you want, so if a sunshine yellow shade will get you through a British winter, we’ll get you that yellow fix!

  1. Light and lighting

If you’re fortunate to have a bedroom flooded with natural light, what a treat! Unless it’s with the dawn chorus in the summer. Invest in proper curtains or blinds to keep your room dark until you’re ready to face the day.

When it comes to lighting the space, like any other room in your home, you are using your bedroom space in a myriad of ways. Having different lighting options to suit will make a big difference to your enjoyment of the space. Allow for a mixture of brighter lighting for dressing, and then combine with ambient and reading light options. With a range of lighting you can always create just the right atmosphere.

  1. Choose your style

Are you more at home with classic or contemporary styles? If contemporary and clutter free design makes your bedroom feel organised and restful, look for furniture with minimal design features. Look for handleless doors and furniture with plenty of built in and concealed storage capacity.

If that modern, minimalist style feels too clinical for your bedroom, opt for more classically styled furniture. Pick more ornate design features and opt for a mixture of open and concealed storage. This will give you a balance of items on display and items to hide away! Whatever your style, mix up the textures in your linen and furnishings. This will help create a sense of warmth and softness to your bedroom design.

Well we’re now certainly feeling ready for bed! The temptation to curl up with a good book, fresh linen and a cup of tea in bed is strong!
