12 Nov How to take the stress out of kitchen renovations
Choosing a new kitchen is a big decision, especially if it is part of a wider building project or renovation. We’ve all watched enough interiors shows to know that project managing your own home renovation is stressful. Especially if it’s alongside work and family commitments and involves building work. Take a breath and read on for our top tips on how to take the stress out of kitchen renovations.
Trying to manage the build schedule with multiple tradespeople and deliveries can be time-consuming and challenging. Managing any major renovation is even more challenging at the moment with global supply issues affecting some material and appliance deliveries.
The good news is that there is a simple solution to making your renovation run smoothly and cause you minimal disruption and stress. Allow us to manage it for you. Handing over the project management will transform your experience of choosing and installing your new kitchen.
It’s not our first time
For a project to run smoothly and on time, you need the builders, experienced kitchen fitters, an electrician, a plumber, a worktop templating team and the decorators, all scheduled at the right stages before and during the installation.
This is why we never offer supply-only kitchens and always run the project ourselves. We know what it takes to manage a renovation and to coordinate all the different specialists at the right time. We do this as standard on every job so that we know the project will run smoothly for you.
By running our installations in such a hands-on way, it ensures that the renovation, finishes and installation all happen to our exacting standards. This approach also enables us to revise a schedule to accommodate unforeseen delays with materials or appliances with minimal impact on you and makes us the port of call for the various trades and deliveries.
Working in this way with us removes renovation stress from you and enables you to enjoy the design and creative process. As a small, family-run business, you benefit from a really personal and flexible approach to your project. You’re working with a highly experienced team who have managed complex renovation projects before and you can be confident they know just how to manage yours.
Give it time
All you need to do is give yourself enough time to indulge in the design of your new dream kitchen.
Currently, a bespoke kitchen will take about 10-12 weeks to be built and delivered and a further two weeks to install. Depending on any building work you’re having done at home, the kitchen will need to be delivered and installed at exactly the right time in the build schedule. This means planning it and being in a position to order it about three months before you want it on site. It is crucial that this time is built in with your designer, so you enjoy the design process. You want to have plenty of time to make decisions on materials and finishes.
If you’re having any building works done as part of your kitchen renovation, talk to your kitchen designer before any plans for the space are drawn up. When you incorporate plans for the kitchen at the outset, it ensures that the gas, electrics and water services are in the right place from the start. If you wait until the building work has already begun before you start to plan your kitchen, you may find that you can’t have the new kitchen exactly how you’d planned without incurring more costs to move services or change a layout or access.
