An afternoon with Pro chef Tarrant Ablett and our new BORA X BO

Some days are just inexplicably better than others, and spending the day with Pro Chef Tarrant Ablett from BORA in our new kitchen display, cooking for us and teaching us about the BORA X BO oven, was definitely one of those days. What a feast, what an amazing bit of kit for the kitchen, thank you BORA and Tarrant.

Our new display features both a BORA X BO and a BORA Classic 2.0 hob and extractor system. We know these appliances are the bees’ knees, but we really wanted to be able to show and talk to our customers about exactly why they make life in the kitchen just run smoother from intuitive functionality, ease of cleaning and of course, the ease with which food turns out perfectly. Tarrant gave us the perfect demo, and we’re now ready to tell you all about them, too!

The food

First things first, let’s talk about the food. Tarrant made our kitchen his kitchen and spoiled us rotten with the menu below.

  • Rosemary & sea salt focaccia.
  • Brussels sprouts and chestnuts with chimichurri dressing.
  • Organic Peri peri chicken.
  • Black garlic marinated king oyster mushrooms with homemade chilli sauce
  • Goey chocolate brownies

From golden focaccia to beautifully tender chicken, everything was cooked to perfection.

About the BORA X BO

The BORA X BO is a steamer and oven in one. This combination of controlled steam, heat, and humidity delivers perfectly cooked, evenly cooked food, no matter which oven level you’re using (Christmas Day oven juggling just got that bit easier!).

It’s not just what’s happening inside the oven that’s clever; the cooking programmes on the display panel have been designed to take all the guesswork out of cooking: simply select a programme and follow the prompts on the large 19-inch touchscreen – no knobs or handles to trap dirt and grease here. The interface feels more like using a tablet than an oven, making it familiar and easy to use, even if you’re new to steam cooking. The range of cooking programmes has to be seen to be believed. For example, not only can you choose a ‘pizza’ programme, you can choose between a frozen pizza programme, a margarita programme or a pizza + topping programme!

One little feature we were shown and loved was the Smart Open function. When you open the door, the appliance automatically extracts the steam and filters odours first, so you’re not hit with a faceful of steam.  We’ve all rushed to open an oven door in the past, and got a blast of steam – and it’s these little design details that have been thought about with this appliance that really set it apart.

Another huge plus, aside from the incredible array of cooking programmes, is the automatic cleaning system. Hallelujah.  You pop in a cleaning cartridge, choose the programme, and the oven takes care of the rest — no scrubbing, no harsh chemicals, just a spotless interior ready to go again. Because BORA has really thought of everything with this oven, the cleaning cartridge is environmentally friendly and recyclable.

We’ve come to the conclusion that the BORA X BO is the kitchen assistant we all need in our lives.

Also incorporated into our new display is the BORA Classic 2.0. This is a modular cooktop extractor system.

About the BORA Classic 2.0

Not only do we have the BORA X BO to play with in our new display kitchen, but we also have a BORA Classic 2.0. This is a modular hob system with downdraft extraction. We love it for its flexible modular set-up and its sleek minimalist style. How many hobs can be tailored to suit your preferred cooking style?

The modular system means you can choose exactly the combination of cooktops you want, whether that’s induction, gas, teppanyaki or a mix of all three. Everything centres around the sleek downdraft extractor positioned between the cooking zones. It draws steam and smells away right at the source, keeping the kitchen clear without the need for a bulky overhead extractor hood.

Controls are handled by BORA’s sControl+ interface, a refined touch slider that’s beautifully minimal yet incredibly precise. One touch is all it takes to adjust a cooking zone or extraction level, and everything sits flush within the worktop for that streamlined, contemporary look.

What stood out most in the demonstration was how practical the Classic 2.0 is. There’s enough room for multiple large pans, heat distribution is superb, and even at high power, the extraction remains impressively quiet. It’s designed for everyday cooking, dinner parties and everything in between.
