Stylish Conversion
Crawley Down
About This Project
The brief
Our clients have recently moved to the area into a beautiful conversion of a large, grand building into three unique homes. The previous kitchen felt dark and too traditional, so our brief was to design something much lighter, brighter and contemporary.
Additionally, they wanted the utility room tidied up and coherent with the kitchen design.
Our bespoke kitchen design
Rotpunkt, our German range, was the obvious choice for this home; meticulously engineered and minimalist in style, it is the perfect choice for fans of sleek, modern design.
The previous kitchen was a traditional shaker kitchen with a range and a combination of wood and black granite worktops. These worktops were preventing the room from feeling light and airy. Our design features a stunning Rotpunkt kitchen in soft Beach Grey in a matte finish. It is a true handleless kitchen with matching profiles in Beach Grey. The worktops are a 20ml quartz from Second Nature called Rosa Astratto. This is a lovely veined quartz with warm red and orange tones running through the veining.
The splashback was chosen and installed by our customers, but we were not surprised to see this fabulous pop of colour! This is a couple who love colour, and their home is beautifully styled with bold tones and beautiful furniture. This splash of pinky red is a joyful addition to this modern kitchen.
This kitchen features an integrated NEFF dishwasher, oven and compact oven with microwave, Siemens hob, Falmec hood, Abode sinks and a Quooker Flex tap.
All in the detail
In addition to the wood and black worktops in the old kitchen making the kitchen feel darker than it actually is, we noticed on our site visit that the window above the sink had very thick graphite frames. To help bring more light in, we suggested lowering the window so we could run the worktops right up to it and replacing the frames with light, slimline frames. Our customers loved this idea, and the impact was instant when the window was changed. It now allows so much more light into the space.
The wall units in this kitchen were also lowered from a standard height to make them more accessible.
