This is a new build home but the original kitchen felt too dark for our customer. We were asked to create something light and contemporary, but to stay within the existing footprint. Our customers love to entertain and host dinner parties, so a smart adult space was needed. One that was practical for everyday needs but ideal for hosting too.
We opted for a streamlined high gloss and handleless style to really give this kitchen an injection of light and space. We wanted to achieve a really contemporary and seamless look that complemented this modern home, without looking clinical. The textured look of the wall units really add a great contrast to the high gloss white acrylic doors. The two finishes work so well together, adding interest and texture, but maintaining a minimalist theme.
The Konigstone quartz worktop continues the fresh modern feel. The white quartz looks great with the sleek Falmec hood, Berazza gas hob and sparkling white glass splashback.
The final flourish was the integrated two-zone wine cooler. A necessity for every kitchen that entertains regularly!
We’re really delighted at how this design has come together. Without changing the footprint at all, the kitchen feels significantly larger. Our customer loves the new look too, ‘Rachael, I come downstairs in the morning and my kitchen looks like a show home, I love it!’
To break up the white high gloss finish and add some contrast, we used a slightly darkened brushed steel in the handleless recesses of the doors. The recesses themselves now look like an integral part of the design, and prevent a high gloss, white kitchen from looking too clinical.
In addition to looking great, it is clearly crucial that your kitchen is a practical space too. On this project, our customer needed her ovens and drawers at a different level to accommodate her height and reach better. So we designed the housing for the three appliances bespoke to this kitchen and customer. Ensuring each appliance was at the right height, just for her. Just as it should be.
