This customer came to us via a recommendation which we always love! They wished to create a statement kitchen to take centre stage in a new extension. The customer was really clear how they wanted the new space to work. They needed us to come up with a contemporary kitchen design in a vibrant blue to bring their vision to life.
This kitchen was part of much larger building works taking place at the house. So ensuring the budget was in balance with the overall project was paramount. We worked with the customer to identify elements in which the spec could be reviewed as required. This enabled them to make considered choices about the kitchen and wider build, and balance both budgets effectively.
In terms of the design, we knew that the blue was going to be such a dramatic statement we wanted to create a really flawless finish across the whole kitchen to maximise that statement. We opted for a chic handleless solution.
To gently break up the blue and introduce some different textures, we used a combination of laminate on the island and recess, and white quartz on the work surface. The quartz contrasts beautifully with the blue. The plinth lighting and in the recess above the sink glow softly in the evenings, again creating a lovely light contrast to the blue.
With such a small colour palate, it was important that everything felt seamless. We matched the laminate on the breakfast bar and recess to the vertical handleless rails. The result is a really coherent, stylish modern kitchen.
The handleless doors on all the cabinetry are a statement in themselves. On trend, beautifully simple and stylish, and create an unbeatable sleek finish.
The first thing was to crack was the shade of blue! Having explored over 100 samples of blue, our customer found two shades they really loved. It was so important we got this bit right as it was to be the principle statement for the whole kitchen. To assist the customer with the decision, we arranged for two sample panel doors to be painted in the two shades of blue. This enabled the customer to really see how the colour would translate to a whole cabinet and how the colour would look in the new kitchen space.
