About This Project

Brief

Having already created a new dining room from a garage conversion, our clients wanted us to help them create a more sociable kitchen diner. Not having young children anymore, they wanted the space to feel more grown up and set up for entertaining.

Our bespoke kitchen design

This is a contemporary true handleless kitchen in three shades of grey, a matte dove grey on the main units, a gloss graphite grey in the bar area and a concrete look on the worktop. The worktop is one of our favourites, Konigstone’s ‘Concrete Fossil’; we just love it, and it looks so good continued up the wall as the splashback too. It has such a great texture to it which contrasts so well with the matte dove grey.

High up on the clients’ wishlist was a kitchen island, but there just wasn’t room to incorporate the one they’d envisaged in this space. So, instead, we designed for them a large peninsula with seating for four.  It looks fabulous, and even better, our clients absolutely love it! They love the informal set-up enabling them to eat together as a family or have friends over.

This kitchen is well fitted out for entertaining too, with a designated bar area and wine cooler plus two Neff ovens side by side, one with a warming drawer underneath and the other with an accessory drawer underneath. The stylish induction hob is Neff too, and the hidden extractor is another favourite of ours, the Falmec Gruppo Incasso with remote control. The LG American-style fridge freezer is a game-changer, and the Quooker Fusion Square in chrome is the final flourish in this stylish modern kitchen.

All in the detail

It’s hard to pick a favourite spot in this kitchen, but we really love the combination of cabinets and open shelving. There are three different styles of open shelving, including the bespoke floating shelf made on-site for the bar area with units above. The LED lighting just finishes it off to perfection.

The peninsula is over 1200m wide which provides a really generous eating and food preparation area. With it being so large, we changed the door into the kitchen diner into a pocket door to facilitate as much space as possible around it.
