About This Project

Brief

Our customers came to us to help them design a kitchen, dining and living space, and utility room for a new extension.

The brief was open with a few key requirements;

  • Design a kitchen that had a traditional feel but felt that light and had a light worktop;
  • Create an open plan space with defined zones and a breakfast area;
  • For the living space to enable the couple to enjoy views of the garden whilst reading and relaxing;
  • Design additional storage for the dining area.

Our bespoke kitchen design

To meet this brief we designed an elegant lay-on painted shaker kitchen in a pale, soft green called ‘Morven Scree’. This colour is so calming and has a real timeless quality to it. The lay-on shaker style in pale green is ideal for creating a more classic feel in your kitchen. This kitchen features under cabinet lighting to add to the ambient lighting options and a pull out pantry unit, which really maximises the storage space.

To create that ideal breakfast spot and create more of a zone for the kitchen, we designed a peninsula to separate the kitchen from the living space. This is the perfect spot for that first cup of coffee for the day. The worktop is the ever stylish Konigstone Ontario. This is a white quartz with very subtle veining, it is so stylish, we love it.

In the dining room, we designed a run of tall units in matching style to the kitchen furniture. This provides a wealth of storage and the coordinating painted furniture helps tie the two areas together.

For the finishing touches, we used Crofts & Assinder handles in American Copper, Karndean flooring and a charcoal coloured glass splashback.

In the utility room, the space was tight! So we used slimline cabinets and worktop and made use of a recess that had been the old doorway through to the garage. The washing machine squeezed into this nook perfectly!

All in the detail

To really bring a traditional, classic style to this kitchen, we incorporated tongue & groove panelling on the back of the peninsula. This is a simple but effective design style to bring a more classic feel and it looks great in this kitchen and colour.

To make even more use of the recess created by the blocked up doorway in the utility, we added floating shelves above the washing machine whilst on site and realised the opportunity. Our customer loves the extra storage space created.
